In seventh grade, my most favorite topic of study from the History syllabus was the period of European Renaissance—a period between the 14th–16th centuries during which European art and literature revived and flourished all around.

This era was filled with some of the most talented people we know today that changed the course of history.

Leonardo da Vinci: a gifted painter, architect, inventor, and student of all things scientific.

Michelangelo: an Italian sculptor, painter, architect, and poet.

William Shakespeare: an English playwright and poet who is widely considered to be the greatest dramatist of all time.

These were people who did not confine themselves to just one skill, rather pursued everything that they wanted to.

They were alchemists in a way, mixing Art & Science together to form something out of the ordinary.

Today, I feel like I’ve had a Renaissance (revival) of myself.

When I first saw the Tarot card reading for the zodiac sign Aquarius published in the JetWings magazine, during my onward journey from Mumbai to Kolkata, I felt a strong connection between the soothsayer’s predictions and the current state of my life.

It’s almost the end of the month now, I’m on my return journey, and I can’t help but smile going through the same reading again.

There is a window of opportunity out there, but you got to grab it.”

Making decisions that have the power to alter the course of your entire life is never easy. But sometimes, fate throws an opportunity at you in the disguise of a loss – a short-term loss with a long-term gain – that propels you to get up and take charge of your life.

The only way to grab it is by being confident about what you would want your five-year-old self to do when you look back five years from now.

The 18th day of this month came to me just like Morpheus goes to Neo in The Matrix and asks to make a choice between two options – the Red pill & the Blue pill.

Morpheus: [Takes out two pills, one of which is red, the other of which is blue]

This is your last chance. After this there is no turning back. You take the Blue pill, the story ends; you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe.

You take the Red pill, you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Remember, all I’m offering is the truth, nothing more.

In the real world, the Blue pill signifies security in life and the illusion of happiness, while the Red pill means a leap of faith, freedom, uncertainty, and brutal truth.

What will you choose?

Make a Choice To Continue

Blue Pill
Red Pill

If you’re like most people, you’ll choose the Blue pill. If this is indeed your choice, this post ends here.

You will wake up tomorrow in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe.

The End.

I see that you’re choosing the Red pill.

Remember, all I’m offering is the truth, nothing more.

Are you sure you don’t want to change your selection?

I guess you’ve made up your mind.

Okay then.

Welcome to the club!

Yes, I chose the Red one too.

In fact, if you’re anything like me, you’d choose the Red pill every single time.

It is fascinating how most of us continue to live our lives saving for the future, securing and insuring it, completely oblivious of what’s being lost in the present, and consciously ignorant of simple facts – like even the flight that I am currently sitting in and writing this post is not guaranteed to land safely at its destination.

The Past is a memory, the Future is an idea, but the reality is only in the Present.

And I choose to fix my reality first.

Now the plan is to get in touch with my true self. I’m going to explore and pursue everything that I’m passionate about – both in my personal and professional life.

I’m going to go back to my childhood hobbies of writing, sketching, reading, and playing music, among several others.

It is time to pursue dreams that make us truly fulfilled.

I’ve entered my wonderland, and the rabbit hole goes pretty deep.

When are you having your Renaissance?
